At the heart of Eva Vermandel’s work lies an appeal for slowness and heightened awareness; a desire to strip life back to its core, away from the commodification of the human condition that has come hand in hand with the onset of digital media.
In July Eva spent a day in Gdańsk, Poland, inviting people to her hotel room for a shower, using her camera to capture the intimacy this act required. A slideshow of the resulting images was on display at Gdańsk City Gallery 2 on 20 September 2016 introduced by an artist talk.
